
The Blue Mosque is located in Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey.It was designed by architect Mehmet Aga. It was built between 1609 and 1616 about seven years, during the rule of Ahmed 1. There are six minarets. Four minarets are stand at the corners of mosque, while the two others at the end of the forecourt only have two balconies. It is made of stone and marble. The building is nearly a square and covered with a dome of 77 feet diameter and 140 high. It was called 'blue mosque' because of the beautiful blue Iznik tiles decorating the interior.
