THE BLUE MOSQUE - ISTANBUL

The Blue Mosque is situated in Istanbul, Turkey. The architect was Sedefkar Mehmet Agra. The foreigners have call it the ‘Blue Mosque’ because of the beautiful blue Iznik tiles decorating the interior. The Blue Mosque was built between 1610-1616. It is built in an Islamic, late classical Ottoman style. It not only built to serve as a mosque, but its huge surrounding complex also held a medrese, tomb, hospital, caravaserai, primary school, public kitchen and market. It made from bearing masonry. It is also widely known as ‘Sultan Ahmet Mosque’. It distinguished by six minarets.
